The Pollinators

They are plenty of pollinators around as the lavender is harvested.  Cant say the bees are very happy with us when we harvest some of the stems.  We are considering adding some hives next year by the new patches of lavender along the tree line.  Lavender honey….yum!!

First Year Munstead at the farm

8/16/2017  – The second year Munstead was planted on Memorial Day weekend.  We pulled our first cutting today.  The the goal is to encourage new stem growth so the plant gets bigger so the cuttings of fresh lavender will still be small.

Fresh Lavender on Friday

8/4/2017 – Fresh and dried lavender will be on sale today at Tenderloin Farms from 8am to 10am.   Cant make it???  Send us an email and we will make sure to have some lavender with us as we continue to work with the lavender each day.

From one to many

Pruning the lavender the first few years encourages the stems to go from one to many.  Stem on the left was its first cut.  The right 2 stems demonstrate the new growth after its first cut.

Harvest of the Hidcote

8/2/2017 – Harvested or maybe I should say pruned the Hidcote this morning.  We prune so 1 stem becomes many.  As the lavender matures more stems of longer length will emerge.  7 bundles of Hidcote 3.15 oz each and 4 bundles of Munstead @3.2 oz each were cut.  The Munstead is still a little early to […]

Lavender will be harvested tomorrow on 8/2/2017 from the Hidcote and Munstead at Farm2.  If you are interested in buying any fresh or dried lavender come to the farm at 6562 North State Route 159 on Friday(8/4/2017) from 8-10 am.  Look for the white Jeep.  We have 40 dried bundles available and are not sure yet […]
